Planning back space on the edge of my tank - need veterns help

I want to put a coast to coast setup on my tank. My tank is 48 long, so, I was thinking 40" for the coast to coast (yes I know its not true coast to coast) with 3 1.5 bulkheads in there somewhere and then a 1" CL or returns in the 4" spaces in between. Would get slip fit bulkheads for the 1" so I could make diverting pvc pipe to direct the flow wherever I want it to go.

Am I okay to use this space up or should I be thinking of some other options? I have NO idea what else I would be needing for the meer fact I am still trying to get used to how to do salinity testing, lol. I just cant think of anything else I would be needing back there!?
