Help needed with Euroreef Sedra replacement pump

Hi,

My Euroreef pump impeller swelled up and no longer spins. I replaced it once before, about 2 years ago. I was going to order another, but thought about ordering a replacement pump This is where it has gotten confusing. I know ASM / Euroreef both use Sedra pumps. I am finding some on line retailers selling a Sedra 3500 Euroreef/ASM pump. However, I just found out that on line retailers are no longer selling Euroreef parts. You have to go to the manufacturer directly. On line Sedra 3500 ASM/Euroreef pumps are $80 I just checked Euroreef and the same pump from them is $120. Euroreef claims the venturi and the impeller are slightly different. My pump stopped working last week right before i went on vacation. I am trying to get it working. I am totally confused on what I need to get. Do I order the ASM version, or do I need the Euroreef? I could order just the impeller, but I think i really should replace the pump also. Its about 6 years old. Has anyone had any experience with this issue? I am hoping someone can tell me what to order. $120 for a new pump is too expensive for me. -

Thanks

To confuse you even more why not just mesh mod the impellor you have now. It can be done for a few bucks and will work better than a new one...

Do you have a link to the mesh mod? Never heard of that. Also, if I post in the euroreef forum, it looks like its monitored by euroreef. Wont they just try to sell me their product?

I found the pod cast. However, that is to replace the plastic nubs on the impleller. My magnetic is swollen and too large to turn anymore. So that mod would not help.

You definitely want the Euroreef pump, not the ASM. They have different fittings.

Man thats a tough call. I also own an older Sedra 3500 but thankfully its still going strong. If worse came to worse and it burned up I'd probably buy the cheaper replacement from www.saltycritter.com.
