24" Tek 4x24W T5 Fixture OR 24" Giesemann 230 Plus (150W HQI + 2x24W T5)?
I already have the Giesmann 230 Plus (150W HQI + 2x24W T5). But I'm not thrilled with the output from this light. The T5 and HQI reflectors on the 230 Plus are pretty poor and I'm sure a single HQI pendant with a quality reflector or a T5 fixture with individual reflectors would actually outproduce the Giesemann 230 Plus.
Does anyone think a 4x24W Tek light would give me better light output than the Giesemann 230 Plus (150W + 2x24W T5)? Right now I have the 230 Plus over my SPS tank (see my signature for details) and I'm not thrilled with my growth rate especially considering the fixture is sucking back 200+W and I'm thinking 4X24W T5 Tek light would be at least as good.

For a 24" x 24" tank, I would get atleast a 6 bulb fixture. I'm running a 6 bulb on a 30" x 22" tank and I think I could use an extra 2 bulbs (I'm looking to upgrade lights too one day ). For your tank, I would definitely get atleast 6 bulbs and consider an 8 bulb setup.
Only problem is that you won't find many companies who make a 6 or 8 bulb, 24 watt fixture. ATI makes both and Sfiligoi makes the smaller ones as do Sunlight Supply. I'm leaning towards the ATI because of the 8 bulb fixture, but if you can wait, we may see new fixtures coming out later this year.

Thanks chem-e,
I should have mentioned that while my entire tank is 24x24x18 the actual display area is only 24x18x18 due to the tank being a custom AIO with a 6" false wall on the back. I could still fit 6 T5s over this but the problem, as you noted, is that there are few companies making anything in 24" with more than 4 lamps.
