Red Hair Algae on new Snails
I just picked up a bunch of Astraeas from a LFS. After acclimating them, I noticed three of them are covered with what appears to be red hair algae. I've never seen red h.a. before.
I tried scrubbing it off with a tooth brush, but it didn't help. I'm keeping them isolated for now. Any thoughts on whether its safe to add them to the tank or should I return them? |

you didn't see it when you pick it up? maybe you can return it and get better ones? I know they might not be as much money, or it's not woth thaking it back to the lfs cause gas would prob cost more, but I would not put that in the tank, you never want to risk anything to your tank.

Ironically, when I picked them up, the store was suffering from a power brown out, so their lights was out. By the time I was outside in the light, both of my kids wanted to "see" the bag. So I quickly tossed it into a cooler and headed home.
The moral of the story is; never purchase livestock in the dark. |
