six line jumped into overflow!

How do you get a fish out of an overflow? It's an oceanic corner overflow. Anyone have a trick?
Thanks,
Kent

Assuming this is all plumbed into your sump, you might think about taking a net and putting it under the drain into your sump. Then take out the durso so pretty much all the water in the overflow drains into the sump. The fish will go with it into your net. Just make sure to open any valves you might have in line with it.

Grab it with your hand... It's not gonna hurt you if you touch it and they don't bite hard

glad you caught it. I've often had to just pull the standpipe and let it ride out to the sump, then catch it there. much easier than catching it in the overflow.

By the way, remember that trick as he is likely to do it again. They LOVE to jump and egg crate won't keep them in.

I just posted this pic on another thread, but it has really worked well for me. Had a clown that showed up in the overflow every morning and in desperation I came up with this. You buy this craft stuff at any craft store or Walmart craft Dept. and just weave it in and out of the teeth on your overflow. It does not impede flow in any way.

Get some plastic netting and put it around the overflo, use small tiewraps to hold it on.

Then put 1' thick pieces of styrofoam over the overflo.

Not only quiets overflo but impossible for fish to get out.
