downhillbiker's Reef Build Thread

Well, I have decided to gather as much pictures as i can to show people the progress my tank has made, and keep people updated in the future.

It all started with my 20 gallon tank with limited livestock: lot of learning here.

Then I bought a 55 gallon tank and started to get some nice fish-only livestock:

I then bought the 72 bowfront for "tiggy" the eel.

Sadly first day in he lifted the hood and was dried up on the floor. I put him back in and he came back to life, but only for about 6 hours.

So I moved the stuff from my 55 in there, and took some back to the LFS, and decided to start turning the 72 into a reef tank.

Above the lighting is just CF from the 20gallon and regular flourescent from the 55, so I decided to upgrade the lighting and get a few corals:

Cool fish! I think when I get a bigger tank for my reef, I'm going to use my 55 for a fowlr

Is that a Purple Haitian Nem with a Maroon in it?

i should say that right about the time that i bought the MH lights, which are odyssea lights, i built a stand out of 9-ply 1" plywood. This was my first wood project and I think it worked out pretty well.

here's one from about a month ago, since i had a huge crash and lost most of my SPS livestock, and some other corals. was able to save the clams and nems, and many corals though.

thanks, i really like the emporor angel and the fu manchu lion, they were awesome, the lunar wrasse was gorgeous, one of the best lunars i have ever seen, but mean too, and the dogface is just a cool fish.

the eel, well i dont like to talk about that cuz i loved that fish.

the anemone is a florida condi, and it does have a maroon in it, kindof a wierd combo, but they liked it. got rid of the maroon though, just wanted to get a pair of percs.

I love the clam, and I'm already dying to get that P&S camera. You're not helping! Thanks for sharing all the details and history... a familiar story for many of us and it seems that you're starting to get everything to come together.

a santacruz v10!!! those bikes are sick. a little pricey for my budget, i just got into hobbies like downhill and reefkeeping that are a little out of the range, pricewise, that i should be in for fun.

i ride a haro x7 with a marzocchi 888 on it and a I-beam seat and it seems to get the job done. here are the off topic biking short vid that we did up at falls city. i dont have any pics of me really, i mostly take other people. you can see all my vids both helmet cam and regular at youtube.com and search for videodownhiller, that is my name on the site.

heres the vid

heres some buddies jumping
