Lighting and other 40 breeder?

Hello all, i was wondering about lighting requirements for a 40 breeder tank. i was hoping to set this tank up penninsula style with the overflow at one end and was wondering if 1-250 watt metal halide with 4-24 watt T-5 bulbs would be enough to light this tank for SPS and clams... the reason i dont want to use 2 halide fixtures is i already am using 2 Current Usa 48 watt T-5 fixtures on the tank to be upgraded, so i figured i could just take appart the fixtures and place them on the ends of the tank in the hood and the halide in the center. as well as heat issues.....

T-5---fan---T-5
-----Halide
T-5---fan---T-5

would this work or would it be better to just bite the bullet and get two halide fixtures?
another question is how large of a sump would i need to keep from having to use a chiller? i would like to avoid this if at all possible.
thanks for the help!

I have 1 250MH 4 24W T5 over my 40 breeder. You can see pics of it here.
