New frags arrived with aiptasia, or aiptasia arrived with new frags....

Just like that. I have spotted for sure 3 of them on the frags which are glued to plugs. I can easily remove the plugs and frags from the tank but as soon as i do i lose sight of the aiptasia...Will kalk slurry or lemon juice or vinegar injected around them disrupt the new frags?? And they are expensive zoa frags too.

I wont kalk paste or joes juice any aip ever again, not in the tank, it spreads them like mad. I have been told that peppermint shrimp OR bergia nudibranchs are your best bet. In your situation with just a few on a couple frag plugs, i would take the plugs out and kalk paste them and then rinse them very well out of the tank, the nem should let go. Boiling hot water will also make them let go in a hurry.

Kalk paste has worked 100% for me. No spreading or damage to any not intended. Peppermint shrimp are hit and miss, they will possibly eat the very small ones. Some will, some could care less.

I have found that the method that works best for me is the "Boil the Ba*%#@*s alive" I use a large syringe with a large bore needle(18g) It can take awhile, but has always worked for me

Happy Hunting!!!

+1 on the boiling water. I've taken down 2 in the past month with boiling water with no problems.

I haven't used kalk paste but I use kalk thru a syringe. I just mix a couple teaspoons in a cup of water and mix it up to make a strong kalk solution. Tank a syringe and inject the Aptasia with this solution and they will gone in a few hours. You can inject them in the mouth or the stalk.

As long as you don't get the kalk paste on the zoas, they will be fine. It would probably be easiest to take the plugs out of the tank and put them in a bowl. Then cover the aips with the paste. They will close up around it and ingest it, then die. An hour or two later, you can put it back in the tank. If you choose to leave them in the tank, turn off your powerheads, or the kalk paste will just blow away and get on stuff that you want to keep.

So today I pulled out the plugs that I could see had aiptasia. Put them in a white bowl with some tank water and let them open up so I could spot them. I heated a small flat head screwdriver up red hot and as careful as possible I melted them. I then rinsed them off really good in RO and put them back in the tank. So far the zoas are opening back up and I don't see any aiptasia yet.

I do plan on getting a pep shrimp and a CBB one day.
