How to ship a CO2 tank?
I just sold my calcium reactor and CO2 tank to someone here on RC. What is the best way to ship the CO2 tank. Should I bleed all the CO2 off and send it empty?
Let me know how you have shipped them through one of the major carriers. Thanks James

you will have to empty it and probably remove the valve - if its under pressure.....well think Quantas Airlines last week. I think it may be against the law to ship one under pressure anyway

Ok, so I just need to drain off all the CO2 and then take off the valve? That is pretty easy!
Thanks for the help!

What do you mean the valve? The regulator? If so, I'd pull that off. But if it's the tank valve, I'd just open the tank, bleed off all the CO2, then box it up.

yeah just seperate the tank from everything else and leave the valve on the tank open when you ship it...

Whatever you do, don't try to bring it in your carry on luggage.
About 1 year after 9/11 I was flying to Houston. I'm finishing up at the security line (this is before they had the huge security lines that we now suffer through). I'm sitting there putting all my stuff back together, and this young guy walks through--kind of looks a bit crazy--with a large duffle bag and they ask him to stop and open his bag. Well, he unzips it and--I sh*t you not--proceeds to pull out a disassembled paintball gun, including the co2 canister. He got really p*ssed when they told him he had to check the gun and had to leave the CO2 cartridge at the airport. I mean, what idiot would do that? This guy probably made the Darwin Awards at some point . . . |
