what stinging sweeper tentacles look like: (pic)
Yes, corals change and do strange things at night, sometimes during the day: this great photo from the Photography forum really shows why you want to give them room. These tentacles sting.

Great photo!
I have a red galaxea that puts out unreal sweepers at night. At least 6-8" long when they are waving late at night
