1 Laguna 1500 Volute vs 2 Sicce psk 2500 pumps on ati bubblemaster

I've been playing around with my sicce pumps for my bubblemaster 250 for weeks now. Changed the mesh to a new 3 layer, to a new 2 layer changed the mesh to pinwheel impeller. I still can't get these pumps to work properly and now they no longer pull enough air to get skimmate unless I fill my sump to the point where the airline tubes are almost completely submerged. The impellers are worn, seem very hot and are nearly done. I have already replaced a pump once when the skimmer was still under warranty.

due to the cost of buying a new skimmer with a similar rating i've decided I will either order 2 new pumps and hope to get a good year out of them, or go with the laguna mod pump. However if I get this I will have to plug one of the holes on the skimmer ect.

Which route do you think I should take?

I'm not too concerned with a drop in performance if I use the sicce with pinwheels as my tank is considerably smaller then the rating (112 gallons with heavy bioload as far as coral feedings).

I think the Laguna 1500 will be a bit much for the BM short body. If you don't care for the mesh then the NW would be a good option if you can spare some air pull. What do you mean by the impellers are worn? Have any pics of the impeller and mesh mod?

What airline tube are you refering to the one on pump? The sicce runs best in 8-10" of water. how deep in the water are your pumps? They need to be completly submerged to be cooled properly.

I don't know how you would mod the skimmer to use the 1500 but I can tell you if it's doable you will NOT be disappointed with the 1500.

I stand corrected the 1500 will work fine on a BM 250. For the life of me I thought you were using a 200. The trick will be modding it to mount to the skimmer.

the problem will be if you will reduce the outlet , the inlet will need to reduce .
in my opinion you can use one of the outlet (on the skimmer body) one for feeding and then to make one nore bigger hole for the outlet . at this way the skimmer will work as ricric in the sump. or if you want block one hole and then make one bigger for the outlet.

you can mount the pump on the side and then to match to it pvc pipes and elbows or to make a volut for it that will match to the holes .
