corals?
so in my 55 gallon tank my dad just recently got me a leather coral and a frogspawn coral... im not sure how to take care of them... ive never had corals before..
my calcium level is around 480, nitrates 0, nitrites 0, ammonia 0.. all is well so far but i was just wondering if i had to do anything special to keep them alive... ive heard the leathers are easy but the frogspawns are more difficult? what type of flow should i put them in? right now i put them in moderate flow areas... one is near a current maker and the other is on the other side of the tank near the power head filter.... is that ok? also... what supplements or food for my water should i buy to keep them alive? any advice would be great! |

They are different corals, with different requirements. They can be compatible if you run carbon and put the frog nearer the inflow and the leather nearer the outflow.
Keeping fish in the tank (and bristleworms) will feed them. You need the alk, cal, and mg tests, and the matching supplements. You need a logbook( too much to keep in your head). Here is a longish thread where we discuss many of the things you need to know, including one emergency, at least...so I hope it helps you out: you've landed yourself in the action in 2 different camps, and the best thing to do is make the frog happy---because it's the harder to please. The leather will be happy with what makes the frog happy---because it's more than the leather would ask. Got it? Here's the link. http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/sh...readid=1444715
