Fareforce's Reef Build Part II (210 Gallons Total)

For those of you who missed part 1; you can read about it here!. Part one goes over the actual build of the tank, while this part covers the actual livestock portion of the tank.

To give a quick recap, this was originally going to be a 75 gallon AGA display, but after a few unfortunate events, it ended up being a 105 Oceanic Starphire tank. There is a 50 gallon sump, and I will be building two 25-26 gallon tanks for the side at a latter date (hopfully this winter).

If you guys have any questions about either part 1 or part II, please ask away! Anyways enough talk, and on with the picstures!

Here are a couple FTS before adding the new corals to the tank. The blue tape is marking were each coral should be placed.

Here is the 10 SPS frag pack from LiveAquaira. One frag broke during shipping, so I had to glue those pieces to new plugs. I don't like destroying our natural reefs, so all of my corals are Certified Captive Grown Corals.

Last batch for now:

Also if any one can help me ID these corals it would be great. Because they came in a frag pack they don't tell you what they are going to be.

Been awhile since my last update. I installed all new T5 bulbs, and replumbed a bunch of stuff. I will post more on that later. I also ordered vortech power heads with the battery backup system and that should be here in the next few weeks. I will post more on that later. Sulfur for my denitrator should be here on Tuesday so it should be up and running next weekend. All corals are showing good growth (more pics to come). In the mean time here are a few pics that I took this morning:

Started with 8 or 9. They killed off the weak ones within the first month. Now I have 5 and they all school happily with each other, and the clowns.

The clown were actually added as a resuce mission, but since they have been in my tank they have become a mated pair, so I am not going to pull them back out. I originally was going to try to get a pair of mated black percs, but these will work. I can still raise baby clowns from these guys.

I will try to take a few updated pics tomorrow, and a FTS.

How are the LFS in Anchorage? What about the shipping of Live goods? I know that everything you have shipped up there has to be shipped priority or higher. I am in the military and I maybe stationed up there and was wondering if this hobby will get overly expensive up there.

We just got a california style fish store up here that rocks! It is were I picked up that tort. 3.5" ORA blue tort with 3 main branches for $110. Don't know how that compares to down in the states, but LiveAquaria wanted $99 for a 3/4" frag of the same thing, and it wasn't ORA. It is nice having someone up here that is resonablly priced, and carries great looking corals! Drawback is that this place only carries livestock. No dry goods (yet), but they do build custom tanks and stands.

I like your tort, do you happen to have any newer pics of your tank? I was just curious as to the growth rate and color of your 10 pack of sps'

I will take some tomorrow when the lights are on. Keep in mind that I have been using the stock bulbs that came with my fixture until this last Saturday. I can already see improved growth with the new bulbs!

I picked up 100 hermits, and a candy stripe pistol for the tank last night! My Powder Brown also came in, but he is staying at the LFS in a QT tank for the next 2 weeks to be safe. I like being good friends with the LFS owner. I dont have to worry about having a QT setup.

Looks good. I remember reading this thread a few months ago. Wondering how it has progressed.
