Exactly Daniel! Lighting is one of the most important factors in this hobby. It should be an obsession for us all!

SCMAS is a great club and everyone should learn to educate themselves on all aspects of reefing. Light is a great issue to talk about and what better to learn from all the experts. In addition I believe the raffles are the best. But at the end of the day its the knowledge I gain from these "experts" that allows me to keep a successful tank. RC is a great forum, but having physical meetings and one to one conversations about possible tank modifications, cures, etc is just as valuable if not. Plus you get to meet alot of great reefers who help you out and possibly do future trades with...

+1 on SCMAS.

Oh yea...at the raffle last month I won this.

And to think, that was the smaller of the two skimmers.

I wish I could go, but it's Friday and it will take me no less than 2 hrs to get from LA to Santa Ana at 6pm after work..

I'd like to ask him something... and something that has been bothering me for a while. I've used a myriad of Ushio DE bulbs.. from 10K to 14K to 20K. I noticed that all of them have a warning against harmonic resonance above 300Hz (no Greg, we're talking bulbs, not ported enclosures ) so basically what it's saying is that they (Ushio) don't recommend electronic ballasts for their bulbs (reference: DarG, hahnmeister - see halide threads) BUT here's the deal.. I just bought a 20K 250w DE Ushio and on the recommended ballast type it says "M80/E", and on the SAME box it has the disclaimer about the harmonic resonance..... so I'm confused. Are e-ballasts OK with this bulb or not?

It would be great if someone can bring this up to the gentleman's attention. Thank you.
