What kind of algae is this?
As the topic states...what kind of algae is this? Despite how it looks in one of the pics...it is brown and not red (not red slime). It is starting to cover most of the rocks and is on the back wall. Do I just need more snails to clean the rocks? This is in a 180 gallon tank and the water paramaters are:
PH 8.2 Alk 8Dkh Ammonia 0 Nitrates 0 Nitrites 0 Magnesium ~1200 Calcium 380-400 Salinity 1.026 Thanks in advance for any advice. Jim |

Looks like diatoms to me. I would start with increased flow.

Do diatoms appear to get fiberous? My son has a brown fiberous algae coating everything.
