Ever buy cheap lighting on Ebay? Opinions sought!

Has anyone bought and had success with purchasing inexpensive lighting from ebay? I'm looking to buy a 4 bulb T5 system which is selling for about $80.00.

Thoughts?

That's why I hadn't bought anything yet. It also seems strange that no one else is really snatching them up considering the price. Sounds like we just answered my question. Thanks kar93!

Look in the "Lighting, Filtration, and other Equipment" forum and you will see several threads on this.

DONT DO IT.

I bought a t-5 fixture on ebay because it was "a good deal" and it was the biggest POS in the world. The thing burned up the sockets and fell apart in less than a year.

Buy a trusted name and pay the few extra dollars.

Too Bad you can't give feedback about the product after actually having used it. This was exactly the advice I was looking for - thanks everyone.

Best,

Gregg

The fixture you are talking about can be found at aquatraders.com for the same price. Buy it there or ebay either way your getting a quality light at a nice price. There are tons of threads on this topic. General consensus is these are good lights, almost identical to the coralife systems, the only thing you might want to do is upgrade to a better bulb. I absolutley love this fixture.

I know that the Aquatraders T5 units are not really T5 and they suck.
If you want a good and affordable T5 unit, that you can find on Ebay... Get one from either www.catalinaaquarium.com or one like it from Ebay
I have one, and I can tell you that they are good, and can be modded to perform excellent... Check My thread to see what I mean

Later,
NathanS
