Light on my sump
I have a 10 gallon sump for my 29 gallon setup. I have just been running a 18 watt 6500 or 6700k flourescent lamp on it.
I have a 65 watt PC sitting around......what would be the advantage of running a daylight out of that over my sump?...other than I could probably keep some frags in there. Would there be any positive impacts on my tank all around? |

Throw some macro algae in a section of the sump and make a fuge out of it. A 65W PC is overkill though. I use a standard NO 18W 6700 flouresant over my fuge.
The benifets of a refuguim are many. - Nutrient export - Helps with PH at night - Critters - and more.... Making a refugium in your 10g sump would be a great addition to your system.

Well I already grow chaeto and I have a bunch of xenia growing down there.
Now I learned something new....what is the difference between a refugium and a sump? Perhaps I already have a refuge as I am growing chaeto and have a good amount of rock down there? |
