New cone design octopus?

I have an octo150....does this skimmer work better with the cone piece sealed against the collection cup. Im using it pressed all the way down into the main chamber and it seems like it is made to work like this. Just seems kind of weird since it allows water to collect on the cone that cant flow back out.

Ok I got the new Octo NW 110. I did a 1/4 barb venturi mod and a mesh mod. I left the black funnel neck as it can. This is a very good skimmer after the mods. Look for the "New Octopus funnel neck" thread in this forum. I did all the same mods and had great results. The stock venturi is to small and to restrictive. You want the black funel kneck pushed all the way down, there will be a small gap in between the cup and the funnel. this is the stop overflows and to self level the water level.
