Aqualight Pro Problem

I have an Aqualight Pro with 2 x 250 MH and 4 x 96 PC and 4 moonlight LEDs.

I modified the fixture for use with IceCap 250W ballasts by removing the starters.

About two weeks ago one of the MH lamps started shutting down after about 30 minutes after coming on. It will eventually come back on, then turn off again.

I thought it was the bulb - it had close to 2500 hours on it. I just changed it out and it is doing the same thing.

Is there a temperature controlling circuit in these fixtures?

I've never seen a web site for Coralife to ask for technical support. They probably wouldn't be much help now that I have modified the fixture anyway.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance!!

The Aqualight Pro series was originally set up to use HQI ballasts and therefore there was a starter wired inline with the lamp circuit.

I wanted to use IceCap ballasts. At first, I simply plugged the fixture into the IceCap ballasts and smoke and flame came out. I called IceCap and they told me that IceCap ballasts have their own starter - and therefore would fight any other starter in the circuit until one of them blew.

So, I removed the Aqualight starter which left four dangling wires. I connected white to white, black to black (or whatever the colors were) and the lamps had worked perfectly since April. 2 weeks ago, the problem started 0 one of the lamps will turn off after about 30 minutes, relight a while later, then switch off again over and over. There were about 2500 hours on the bulbs, so I figured one was burning out. The bulb was blackened inside, but now I'm thinking this is from all the starts/re-starts.
