icecap 400 MH won't power up bulb

I have been using PFO tar ballasts for many years without a problem. I removed the PFOs and spliced on the icecaps. One will light the bulb but it will turn off before full brightness. The other Icecap won't even start the bulb. Bulbs are XM 10000. Any suggestions? The bulbs have always worked with my PFO and I have never had a problem in 10 years before this.

Thanks, Scott

Thanks Mr. Sandman. I will check that forum out as I am sure it has been addressed before. The one that would start up but shut off is now staying on.

I think you got a bad ballast. A buddy of mine has been running the 400w XM 10k's on icecaps for almost 3 years.

Maybe try someone elses 400w to make sure its not the ballast.

They are both firing up and staying on now. I guess the bulbs may be adjusting to a new ballast?
