How much watts does my JBJ 1/5hp chiller draw?
Anyone know how to calculate how much watts are used for a JBJ 1/5hp chiller?

maybe try a kill-o-meter, that way your not taking anyone elses word for it, you can test and know for sure :-) Then you can make a decision if it's worth it to have a chiller, or if you would be better off with fans and evap cooling...

Sorry I don't think that is totally correct, we need to find the PF(Power Factor), which the formula for that you need to know watts/apperent power(Volts X's Amps). The power factor is less than 1, you can't get more than you put in(in most cases, super conductors are a different story), so based on that your wattage should be less than 575 watts, probably more like 450-500. You may need to get a Kill-o-watt to be sure. The power factor is going to be different from device to device, meaning a drill may not have the same PF as a TV. What other numbers are on the unit?

If I remember correctly, it's something like 760W = 1 HP. So a 1/5 HP device should draw about 0.2*760 = 152W.
