Tank chip...is it bad?

So I got my new RR 75 home today and then I saw it. Its on the lower edge of the front glass. Do these kinds of chips cause problems if so how bad is this one and is there anything I can do?

I would make them replace it. I can't tell how big it is but I wouldn't worry too much about it cracking..

At the deepest it probably goes half way through the width of the glass. It's about 3/4" tall.

I need to call the store on Monday and see what they can do for me. Though it was a going out of business sale, cash only so I'm not sure how willing they will be to help.

Hmm, well if it was a deal and you cant get it fixed, I don't think it's a terrible problem. I'd definitely test fill it outside for a while before employing it in the house.

You have to look at the areas function in two ways. One is water seal and the other is bonding to hold the tank together. As for bonding, that looks like a small area compared to the rest of the bonding surface area. Lets just say that if that area of bonding was jepordized, the rest should hold it fine. Now, if it was on the edge of the tip of the tank, where it could work its way down, i would be concerned. That only leaves us with a water tight seal to worry about. As lonf as there is ample goo on the inside corner of the tank, again, i thin you will be fine. Like said before though, do a wet run first jst to be sure, for leaks.

Yikes! Did you chip it or did they, and then they just tried to get money for it? It's so difficult to tell if any chip could turn into a crack as the tank begins to bear weight, but if I were you I'd see if I could find some way to fill it in with either superglue or some other glass filler, because I don't believe you'll be getting your money back based on the going-out-of-business part.
