How can I start over with my Live rock?
Im going to be moving up to a 40br in the next couple weeks, and I really dont like whats going on with my LR.......mainly a whole lotta aptaisia and caulurpa. Is there a way to pretty much wipe it clean and start over? I was thinking about soaking it in fresh water for a week or 2 then letting it dry out.........

Hi, thee has been some disscussion on here wrt "cooking your live rock. This may be what you are looking for. I have never done it myself but there is quite a bit of information and it sounds like it will get rid quite a few of the nasties but for the apitasia you may need to do some manual removal.

Depends on how much rock and how bad it is. I've selectivelly removed rock with macro algae, aiptasi or hydroids and done the fresh water/dry it out treatment. Works if you don't mind creating base rock.
I've also cleaned out ugly rock by blasting it with a turkey baster, removing what I can and putting upside down in a new tank with the nasties buried in the sand.
