layman's answer...they are the equivalent of dandelion's in your yard. They look kind of cool at first but are basically a weed that will overtake your tank. From what I understand, they are a fast spreading kind of nuisance anemone. Get rid of them at all costs.

a pest anemone that rapidly multiply in high nutrient aquariums. can grow out of control stinging and killing corals as well as being unsightly. If you have a tank long enough you will see one pop up here and there but when they start growing out of control or too fast to treat easily there are usually water quality issues faciliting it.

It is a pest anemone the will reproduce fast, and sting all you corals..
