Chevron Tang and Kole Tang

I need more fish that will swim out in the open.I have 1 midas blenny which stays in a hole he comes out about 2 hrs a day 10 mins at a time. Two marroon clowns who doesnt move from there spot. One sleeper bleeny who just stays on the bottom. The only fish that swim out is my kole tang.So my question is will a chevron tang and a kole tang have enough room in my 72 gallon.I also plan on getting scotts fairy wrasse and a six line

I would definitely not add a chevron tang to your system. First, your system is barely large enough to handle a kole tang, yet another tang There is always aggression when you have multiple tangs in one system, and you could expect the aggression to be more severe when in crampt quarters. Moreover, even in large systems, it is very difficult to keep two tangs of the same genus. Both the Kole and Chevron Tange are of the bristletooth genus . As such, the aggression will even be more pronounced.

I would not get a chevron tang, or really any other tang in a 72. if you want something a bit more mobile, seek out smaller fish, like a wrasse of some sort.

If you try to keep other wrasses with a six-line the chances are good that the six-line will be aggressive toward them and as it grows the aggression will also. The 4-line, the 8-line and the 6-line all are known to be aggressive .My 6-line is in a 150 with 2 other wrasses and after 3 months is now going after my yellow fin wrasse I may have to put it in another tank.

Most wrasses are fine together it is the six-line that is the aggressive one usually

Leopard wrasses require a deep sand bed and thier mouths are frequently injured during shipping resulting in starvation as far as the fairy and the flasher that could be true but something to remember is fish are a lot like people in that they all have different personalities(varying behaviors) from one fish to another of the same species.

I usually watch a fish for about a week or two before I but him.So if I make sure he is eating in the store and have enough pods in my tank would he be cool?

If you are looking for a fish that is "out and about" look into a chalk bass (in the basslet family). I have had one in QT for a little over a week and within about 6 hours of being in the tank, he was out exploring. Though he sleeps in the PVC pipe at night, he seems to be out most of the day. There are two other small non-aggressive fish in the tank with him. Perhaps you will hear from someone who has more long term experience with one.

A leopard wrasse should be kept only by very experienced aquarists, in a very well-established full-blown reef tank that has plenty of amphipods. They also reportedly do better in groups of 3 or more.

Is the only thing hard about keeping a leopard wrasse is getting them to eat?

Getting them to eat is half the battle. The other half is having a setup that provides plenty of food. If you can't provide the food it needs, it doesn't matter whether it's ready to eat.

Just to give you an idea of this animal's needs, Liveaquaria requests that purchases be made only by advanced aquarists, zoos, aquariums and institutions. I've never seen a vendor provide such a caveat, so that should tell you something . . .
