Will this be too much light?
I have a basic 29g tank and was planning on using a MH 250W 14K Phoenix bulb powered by IceCap. want the the ability to put "anything" in the tank, lighting wise.
I am planning on lots of colorful corals, and a clam in there somewhere... It has been mentioned to me that 250w is too much for the tank...should i go for 150w? |

I don't think 250's are too much for a 29. I have a 150w Sunpod on my 29 and the sps that I have look a little faded. I would like 250's. I'm assuming your 29 is 30'' inches long?

ok, so if i go with a 250W, how far above the water should i set it? I am building the canopy around the light so i can put it wherever i want.

By the way, I am using the mounting legs that came with the light so it is only 3 or 4 inches from the tank.
