brown sand

in some parts of my sand bed are brown.
i have a coral life 150watts 10k MH.
2 blue atinics 65w
2 12,000kw
compacted flourescent dual strip 48'' 260w

whats the deal with the brown spots in the sand, i put a nitrate removal today in my sump.
