BK supermarine 200 or bigger?
I'm in the planning stages of a new tank right now. Display will be 187 gallons with anywhere from 250 to 300 gallons in the complete system. Tank will be sps dominated, and i like my fish as well (meaning a heavy fish load).
Will the BK supermarine 200 be enough to get me to a low nutrient environment, or should i go bigger? Reason I'm asking about this particular model is I have an opportunity to pick one up for less than retail. All suggestions welcome. |

I would do a sm 250. The 200 probably would work, But i think thats on the high side of the ratings or just above.

Yea, I thought i'd be pushing the limits of the 200. One more question.. whats the difference between the BK minis and BK supermarines? as far as i can tell (visually) the pump is positioned differently. There has to be something else to justify the price increase, right?

The Supermarine's are much larger skimmers with a bigger pump. The mini's are designed to work in tanks with space restrictions in the sump. Either way you cant go wrong. But, if you have the room in your sump and the extra money go with the supermarine.
they have new and improved versions of the minis 180 and 200 models |
