SouthEast Reefers- How do you do it

Living in AZ, I have no idea what you guys are going through with all of these tropical storms/ hurricanes

What do you do protect your reef during these storms?

I had a power outage while I was out of town during Fay and the chiller re-set to 58 or 59 degrees. Lost all of my corals and most fish. Its tough enough to explain to the "fish sitter" how to feed the fish let alone diagnose problems. I always though that it was the lack of power that would get me if a storm came. I have a generator to power the aquarium, assuming I am home to turn it on. I have to admit I did not see this coming.

Same preperations as for anything else. Generator or air bubblers and alot of worrying. I have some bottles of h20 in the freeze in case we loose power for a while so I can attempt to keep the tank somewhat cool.

With Hanna on the way and Ike right behind its a matter of hurry up and wait.

Hmm nothing too much really. I have two back up's that provide oxygen only if the power source to them cuts out. One for the main tank and one for the sump/fuge. Luckily we don't get power outages too often on my side of town but I don't run a heater anyways so I figure I'll be fine as long as I have proper circulation and maybe an icepack or two w/ a couple of battery fans.
