Lighting for Tyree Aspera LE Chalice
I noticed that several of my chalice's like more light and color up nicely under it, where as others need to be in low/shaded area's in order to color up. So my question is "what kind of lighting do I want to put my new Tyree Aspera frag under?"...I have a 24g JBJ Nano with 1X150 DE 20K...shaded/low or moderate?
looks like this baby, except mine is a frag Last edited by kev apsley; 09/06/2008 at 09:29 AM. |

I've had mine for over a year now, and I can't get my colors right on this one. When I got it from Hugo it was orange and green, just amazing. I have the same tank and you Kev and on the sand bed, its pretty pale. I just recently moved it up towards the top to see what will happen. It really gets to me because I know what its "supposed" to look like.

I have my LE Aspera on the bottom shaded partially by a coral under 1x250w Radiums and it is the perfect color. I mean super duper sweet. I had it out in the light on the bottom and it lightened on me considerably...only after I partially shaded it with more diffused light off ot the side did I get the great greens and yellows in the body with the orange/pinkish mouths and a slightly purplish/bluish rim. A gorgeous chalice with a beautiful growth pattern, truly round saucer type.
