Now the behind the scenes:
Here is a view from above the HUGE aquarium that holds the Whale Sharks and the Manta Ray. See the row of BIG fans blowing air down along a straight line across? That's where the walking tube is. They run the fans to create turbulence so the people can't look up at the rafters of the building. They said this aquarium is the size of a football field
During the tour, we walked across this scaffold bridge and were able to look at the tank from above
A Whale Shark swam right under us!!!!

This picture is taken from the back of the Coral Seas exhibit from the top looking back toward the filtration equipment and the giant wavemaker
The wave maker is a series of giant buckets that fill and fill and then tip and dump when they get full

Here are some pics of the filtration equipment
And one of my favorite parts, they have a tide pool above the Coral Sea exhibit where they grow out corals and keep fish that aren't ready to go in the exhibit

And my VERY favorite ..... The Beluga Whale tank from above the display. There's Niko the male hanging out by the front window for the people
But then he got curious and had to swim by and check us out

Actually I think that might be the mama Beluga looking at us.
I brightened up the cichlid pic and it got a lot better. (edit: Picasa updated automatically so now they both look the same - sorry for the repost)

thanks
Thanks for the PICs Cathy, they really look nice, and by the way the Neon Green Sarcophyton Robin won at the meeting (and most kindly donated by you) is doing well!!
I see Robin "check on it" each day.

I'm so happy that it's doing well, Bill!
I'll have 4 or 5 at the frag swap - a couple are getting too big to be called "frags". Thanks for the update. Glad you like the pics, Tracy I was afraid I was posting too many. It was amazing to see the aquarium.

Thanks. Richard's pictures over in the MACNA thread are better yet.
One of the raffle prizes at MACNA was a really nice hardcover book of pictures from the aquarium. I was hoping I'd get one of them. I really did enjoy seeing it a LOT.
