Unhappy Dead fish recovery?

I just lost my Powder blue. The PB is under my rocks. I am not able to reach the PB. Do I tear my rock down to get him out or let mother nature take its course? Please advise.

If you have other livestock in there, I would try to get him out because you prolly will get an ammonia spike. Also depends how old/new the tank is. Older tanks will have more bacteria to convert the amm to nitrite to nitrate.

To Reef Central

How big was it? And what do you have for a clean up crew?

The PB is about 3-4 inches. 3 Emerald crabs, 3 Sally Lightfoots, 2 turbo snails, 200-250 smaller snails, sea cucumber and a hair. I am moving alot of water. Good flow.

And I am assuming that it would be a huge PITA to move the rocks?

If you aren't going anywhere ( out of town or what not ) I would be willing to see what the clean up crew does. But, I would test the ammonia twice a day -- once in the morning and once at night -- and be ready to move the rocks and do a water change if you do get an ammonia reading.

I know that leaving it is a risk, but I also know the pain of moving rocks, especially if you like the way your rocks are laid out.

Sorry for your loss! I'm just curious - how long was it in your tank before it died?

I had him for about 5 weeks, I think the cause was ICK.
The fish that I love the most. I do not know if I would do it agian.
Most likely so.

I moved two larger rocks(along with several palm size and smaller ones) ... I was able to fish a tube with a wire zip tide to the tube and I was able to suck him to the end of the tube after several attempts of bending the wire. Unfotunately he did get the royal flush.
RIP
