Which is the better hang on skimmer?

Need help choosing a hang on skimmer for a 37g seahorse tank.
I have a budget of $200.00 for the skimmer.
Here are my top choices so far:
Tunze nano doc 9002
AquaC Remora w/ maxijet
Octopus 100F

Trying to decide between the 3 but am open to suggestions.
Appeciate any input/suggestions. Thanks!

I had the Remora with the Maxijet on it and it did not work as well as I had hoped on my 29 gal. I got the Octo 100F and it is certainly better, I am currently using it on my 75 gal. I haven't used the Tunze, but I haven't heard anything bad about them. Biggest problem is either the whole skimmer in the tank (Tunze) or a rather large pump in the tank (Octo).

You will need constant water level for the Tunze 9002 to work correctly. Do you have a overflow? or is it a slow water movement tank. The Tunze does not chew through a lot of water so if you do not have a overflow I would get a used Deltic , Bermuda Rogue,or the Octo. Good luck

The Octo BH-100F does not have the pump in the tank. The pump is in the skimmer body. The BH-100SS and the DBH-300 have the pumps in the tank.

I have a 100F and it is light years ahead of the Remora skimmers. I have owned a few Remoras in the past and they seem to work well for a while and then get stupid. No matter how much I cleaned it never got better.

No input on the Tunze.

For $220 you can get a Octopus DBH-300F. I am still waiting on the new octopus 800 that is due any day. It will have a Sicce PSK-2500 pump and a bubble plate like the DBH-300F. I think it is being built using the DBH-300F box but using a single Sicce pump. It is supposed to be in the $229 range.

I don't mean to intrude, but I am in the same position as SaltyMember and just looked at the Octopus skimmers on AquaCave.com. The Octopus BH-100SS is 119.95. Is that a good deal? Is the Octopus really that much better than a Remora even though it is almost $50 less? I am thinking seriously about getting one of these. I have just enough room on the back of my tank for the 7 & 3/4" width of the body of the skimmer.

One more important question: ARE THESE SKIMMERS NOISY? (Octopus)

Sorry, cveverly is right, I have the BH 100. When I bought it they only had one model out. Now it seems there are 5 models out. Yes the Octo's are better than the Remora in my opinion. I have had no noise out of mine, it comes with a silencer.

Okay, so you guys have me leaning towards the octopus skimmers. I do like the 100F due to the surface skimmer. Do the surface skimmers work well? Do these units start up on there own after power outages?

I looked on the coralvue website but did not see an 800 model but I did see a 1000 model that has the pump external to the skimmer body at the bottom of the skimmer. That one looks interesting, but I am not sure of the advantage of that design over the 100F. Any thoughts?

I was first concerned about the restart of my 100F, but after testing it multiple times and for different lengths of time I am satisfied it will always restart. I periodically suck out any air from the siphon tube(once a month). Mine is running on a 40 gallon housing sea snakes that eat about 8 2" mollies every 7-10 days. This Octopus is my new go-to HOB skimmer.

I have octo300f and it skims great......but I had Resun Pump die out on me twice already. (Since Feb) I replaced the dead one with a Sedra pump now.
