Need help with Mag Pump Impeller

Howdy,

I have a mag 9.5B according to it's label. I pulled the impeller out of it and was going to swap a new one in, but the new one, also labelled as for a 9.6B, is 1/4" or so longer than the old impeller! I have two replacement impellers and both are the longer type.

Does anyone know whether the 9.5B impeller is longer or shorter than the 9.5A impeller?

Thanks!
Randy

I believe that this is something to do with when the pumps were manufactured. I seem to recall reading something about this.

The thing is, I have two different impellers here and don't know for sure which one is for the model A and which is for the model B. One is longer than the other. I don't know how I ended up with two different size impellers...

Well, I heard back from a helpful guy at www.pondliner.com who says that the mag 9.5B impeller is approx. 3/4" longer than the mag 9.5A (older) impeller.

So I don't know where I got the shorter impeller since both of my pumps are 9.5B's. I bought both used, so one must have come with the wrong impeller installed. It seemed to be working but maybe was not in as tight as the newer one...
