rodi idea

is it ok to pump water from a bucket into my rodi unit and have the waste water drip back into the bucket so I am actualy not wasting water????

Yes, at least for a short time. You are concentrating the waste so it eventually fouls the membrane.
The other thing is you would need a pump capable of pumping about 60 psi pressure which is very expensive to buy and to operate, much more expensive than the cost of a few gallons of water.
