Does storing a once used tank empty compromise the tanks strength?

just curious.

Thanks

I have a 55 gallon that I got from my neighbor that had been stored for over 15 years in her garage, after being set up for 5. I had it set up for 2 years full of water before it started leaking. I resealed it myself and it's full of water right now. I think the sticker on the bottom said 1985.
The original seal job in this tank was very skimpy on silicone. I'm suprised it never leaked before. 10 gallons come with more silicone on them than this thing had.

I also have a 210 that had been set up filled with discus for a year. I bought it new so I know what it's been through. It's been in storage for 6+? years. I'll be filling it again with salt over winter. I'm not expecting any leaks, but you never know.
