When was your last water change?

Mine get that way when something else is stinging them. Usually, it's my bubbletip and the pieces of Xenia don't make it. Otherwise it might just be too much light too soon.

I had black damsels that picked on my xenia. I actually trapped them by putting the xenia in a fish trap. When the damsels were small they didn't touch anything, but when they got bigger i notice them nipping at my softies. I know most damsels don't typically pick on corals but these do. Here's a link of what they look like.

for some reason that link isn't directing to the exact page, but if you google black damsel it should be the first result.

My coral beauties love silver xenia. They leave the brown xenia alone

Well Guys, I'm not doubting your personal situation, but I've never experienced that problem.

Also according to Scott W. Michael's Book "Marine Fishes" A Pocket Expert Guide, of the 32 Damsel fishes cataloged, a relatively small sampling (like 4) of thsoe fishes (barely) nip at crustaceans, and MOST all of them are absolutely "Reef safe".

So.......Good luck I suppose.

thats somewhat ridiculous.. cause every fish has a different personality

ive heard of people having butterflyfish that are notorious for nipping at coral that never do
