How do I clean powerheads??

I think you use vinager, I have a 5 gallon bucket so how much vinager do I use in 5 gallons of water and how long do I let them run. Will it take off calcium deposits??
Thanks, Scott

i have used full strength white vinegar prior but the pumps stink until you really wash it thoroughly. I have converted to using approx 50% solution.

Muraitic Acid. You find it in the cement area at Lowe's. Use gloves, safety glasses, and don't breath the fumes.

10 minutes in an acid bath is the equiv of an overnight soak in Vinegar.

It's also much more cost efficient. A gallon runs $10, but it's probably worth a 100 gallons of vinegar.

YMMV.

take them apart and let them soak in vinegar for 30 min. Scrub off all the corraline on the outside
put them back to gether and let them run for 10 min in the vinegar
rinse out the vinegar for ro/di water and let them run for a further 10 min.

I usually just do a 5 parts water to 1 of vinegar and let them run overnight. It has worked well for me in the past.
