Cyano... should I chemiclean?
New tank about a month out of the cycle. No fish or corals yet... just a small clean up crew. I have gotten a small outbreak of red slime covering a few sections of my sand bed. I have been trying to suck it up during water changes and with a turkey baster... but I just can't keep up with it.
With no fish or corals, do you think I should do a chemiclean? thanks guys

what kind of flow do you have in your tank. You should have between 20-40 times your tank volume in gph.
Using the turkey baster is great but you have to have flow to remove the cyano and the stuff it is living on from your tank.

in my opinion, no cleaning chemicals should go in the tank.
find the source/cause of the out break, and take care of the source/cause. |

My flow is apx 32x.
The slime is forming very lightly in patches on the sandbed. My problem is that my sand bed is composed of oolite (very fine) and when I get strong flow along the bed, it disturbs the sandbed making dunes and possibly releasing nitrates. here are a couple pics that might help...
