Refugium light wattage

I'm setting up my refugium in a section of a 55 gallon tank. The light will sit on egg crate so it is pretty close to the water. I currently have a 75 watt bulb in the light but that puts out too much heat and is probably over kill. What size bulb should I put in? Can I put in a flourscent bulb? If I do what size light would be best?
