Question Filter a Skimmer?

Is it alright to filter the exhaust of a skimmer? or is it just depleting any "good" from getting back into the water?

Your skimmer output should have nothing that could be mechanically filtered , if you have a refugium following it that is to taks care of the disolved nutrients

What were you planning on filtering it with? Assuming it's something you'd want to use in any other part of the tank, there should be nothing wrong with it. The only thing I'd worry about is if this filter starts getting clogged up, it could create backpressure or an overflow which could have negative effects on your skimmer.

well i was thinking about putting a filter sock over the exhaust (i have an ER RS-180). It is producing TONS of bubbles out of the exhaust which are flowing straight into my tank

You shouldn't have a problem doing that. I'd make sure to clean that sock everytime you clean the collection cup on the skimmer though, if not more frequently.

Some skimmers come with a filter pad on the exhaust to break up the bubbles
