what lighting do you use???

i have a 540 reef with 6 x 400W MH 14K Hamilton. i like the color but sometimes just before the lights fully kick in and the actinics are on - the blue looks good and you can see some colors that you normally don't with the corals. it seems to be a trade off - what kelvin ratings and bulbs do you guys like the best???

also my bulbs are evenly spaced out over this tank with dimensions of 6' x 4' x 3' (lxwxh). i thought of putting to 20k bulbs in the middle but i don't know how that would effect my corals which are mainly sps and lps.

thanks

I have (6) 400's on my 500. I'm running 20K Radiums on PFO HQI ballast. Also run (4) 160 VHO actinic's and (4) 96 watt 50-50 actinic PC's. I really like the color this arraignment achieves. I tried many combination before choosing this. Everybody see color differently though..

Happy Reefing

What type of reflectors?

On my 8x3x2H I run

-4) Reeflux 250w 12k on Coralvue E-Ballasts, Luminarc reflectors
-4) 54w t5 Blue Plus Retros
-2) 160w VHO Super Actinics

I love the color and light output. I am planning on trying Radium 20k next time around. They burn out faster and are more expensive but, I like them and want to try them. =]
