Starting with Bulk Reef Supply Rock - How soon till I add critters

In my previous tank I started with live rock, sand, and even a bunch of water from another tank. This was a 55g. Many of the rocks had life and trived immediately.

For my 90g build, which I just plugged in last night. I used BRS rock that I soaking in saltwater for around a month. The water was clean looking (clear) when I took the rock out and did not smell at any point.

So now the rock is in, its a BB tank, so no sand, and things are up and running.

When I added water I used some from my running 55g.

What else can I / should I do to speed up bacteria build up that will allow me to support life in the tank. How long will it take (generally speaking)?

Add a small amount of live rock to help seed the BRS rock. Then feed the tank a piece of shrimp to start your cycle.

That sounds good, would adding it to the sump be good enough?

I do not want to transfer dictyota into my new display....

I am following along, as I am about to do the same thing (with Marco Rock). I didn't want to transfer any nasties to the new tank, so I was thinking of just seeding the tank with some live sand from an established tank, hung in the sump with a nylon sock. Any thoughts?

Well a local reefer offered me 60+ gallons from his low nutrient sps system when he does his water change. How big of an impact will this much "live water" have on my system?

I plan on putting some sand and rock in the sump but I do not have a light yet, does this matter?
