Exclamation Help! Cloudy water won't clear up!

Hi All:

We are starting up our 235g tank. Here is the condensed version of where we are: After we checked all of our plumbing with fresh water, we added salt. We let the salt dissolve for a couple days and then added 260lbs of live sand. We added the sand on Thursday and the water is still SO cloudy. It won't settle out.

We tried turning off the circ pump and the closed loop to see if it settled, no luck.

We've added the finest filter pads we could where our return water enters our sump, no luck.

We checked our water parameters with LFS and the water chemistry is perfect.

We don't have our protein skimmer up yet, so not skimming.

Any thoughts from the pros out there?

BTW, we have nothing in the tank besides salt water and sand.

if you want it clear in a hurry try running diatom filter . it will clear on its own but it takes along time

I have a couple HOT magnums that I'll throw on the tank with a micron cartridge for situations like this. The diatom filter works also, but it is very specialized, whereas the HOT magnum can be used in emergencies to run extra carbon and such, so I always recommend throwing one in the reef-keeper's tool box for occasional use. Filter socks are another option

Patience Grasshopper. Time will cure this It'll take a couple of weeks, but will clear nicely.
