My Copepod population has BOOOOMED the last few months...
In my fuge area there THOUSANDS of visible ones, and some are big! On some places on my chateo there are white clumps which are solid groups of copepods! Can you have too much of them?
Some pics of the big ones on the glass |

I think he should be fine... but I am no expert.... there is a thread (a sticky I believe, and if it isnt it should be one) that was made just for that reason... post your setup and livestock and how long the tank has been setup; they should be able to give you a more informed answer.
but in my experience... mandarins are very sensitive fish, so as long as your levels (pH, nitrate, ammonia, etc, etc, etc) are not bouncing around everywhere and you have a good copepod population then you should be fine.

he will do fine with the stock you have now, but the sixline will eat the pods befor a manderine will and it will starve. I am guessing that was your fug and the 6 line is in the display. If so the manderine will do good in the fuge.

They are probably booming because there is an abundance of food for them, and nothing praying on them. After a while they may start to run out of that abundance of food and tapper down some. I wouldn't be to worried about having to many. In some cases it wouldn't hurt to feed them on occasion.
There are several reef safe fish that would be happy to keep them in check for you, some that will only thrive with a steady population of them. I'm sure your sump return is constantly throwing them in the main tank and your fish are enjoying the sporadic treats. Congrats on a healthy fuge!

I wouldn't recommend the mandarin in the fuge....
He'll descimate your pod population. Try the display tank... but then again the sixline will outcompete it. Just my .02 How much live rock and how big is your tank? It might be ok in the DT |
