New Mushroom and its not looking good. =/

Ok, was at a lfs today and saw a very nice colored BIG Mushroom like 3 inch diameter very good lucking, curious though, when i bought him he was huge at the store when i got home and took it out of the bag it was very small, and now its in the tank and it hasnt opened up at all, its still just really really small, and looks bad, should this subside or ??? i heard the care taking is easy, its only one head, but i got a very good deal on it, and it was huge in the tank, not sure what to do.

well, how old is the tank? did you acclimate it? Most of the time, when you put them in the tank, they may close up for a day or so, then start to open up.

One thing about mushrooms, is that they can tell you about your water parameters really quick. If you have a mushroom that is looking great and all of a sudden it looks like crap there is something up with the tank. Can you post a pic?

It is a new addition so it may be getting used to the change....like goldenfamaliy said, did you acclimate properly?

How much flow do you have it in? When I got my first set of shrooms, it got some pretty good flow. It was in that spot for a month and looked "happy". I then later moved it towards the bottom with less flow and within a day, they expanded to almost double their size from their original location. So if your shrooms still don't expand, try lower flow.

Mushrooms are awesome. Its normal for them to shrink and discolor. They do it everynigh actually. ANd it can take a few days for them to get used to the tank. Also make sure that it is lower in the tank they like lower light of course
