Do all flasher wrasses jump?

I have 2 regular fairy wrasses in my tank namely a filamentous one and a ruby head. I once introduced a carpenter´s flasher wrasse and it would jump a lot splashing my lights which was anoying, although the fish was striking, I liked it.

It jump several times, hit the canopy and fell back in, but one day I could not save it.

The 2 regular wrasses I have, do not jump. I´m wondering if all flasher wrasses jump?, or it is not always the case ?

Mine did - 3 times. Saved it the first two, but took 10 minutes to find it the last time. Dead fish.

Yes but then why do my regular non flasher wrasse have never ever jumped?.

You know, I actually came to the conclusion that they are the best reef fish in terms of behaviour, colors, compatibility as you can have many, hardiness, etc. THe only problem is that they jump, but you know what, I´m going to setup a net.

IME, flasher wrasse = on the floor. Never had it happen though with 6 lines or 4 lines.

Love wrasses but you do need a covered tank. They all jump more than other fish. They live in about 30 feet of water and as I understand it their startle reflex is to go straight up with a burst. They just run out of water.

Certain species don´t seem to jump, for example my filamentous and ruby head don´t ever jump, six line wrasses too, golden wrasse also seem to not jump.

Those guys will jump perhaps not as often as some others . My six line turned into a fish chip on the rug years ago. My filamaneted flasher jumped when I left the front open during feeding and I was able to recover it from the rug before the dog ate it.

My ruby head fairy jumped.. He's the most greedy eater in the world and one day he didn't come out to eat.. I looked everywhere and found his carcass under the couch like 8ft from the tank
