Salt bucket left open
I had recently gotten my R/O unit working and started making my own saltwater instead of buying it by the gallon from the LFS.
My question being, the bucket of instant ocean I had from about three years ago,had been slightly opened, and subject to the air and moisture of my garage.Does anyone know if that could change anything as far as degrading the integrity of the salt? It was pretty much a solid block.I had to scrape off cupenough to fill a measuring cup. All the parameters seem fine (except Ca.-350,but that just might be the Instant Ocean) Thanks a lot. 350 is pretty normal for IO at 1.0264. I suspect it is probably ok to use.

I agree. If the alkalinity is OK, I'd use it.

Thanks a lot.I actually just did a water change this morning and all the parameters seem to be alright. All my LPS and leathers are all open and some nice polyp extension as normal.
Thanks again. So long,Pete |
