Talking 75/95 gallon tank Glass or Acrylic?

I am thinking of moving up to a 75 or 95 gallon tank. Which would you prefer. Of course it would have to be reef ready or able to be made with built in overflows. Which glass/acrylic tank brand or company would you buy from for a tank of this size.

Current tank is a 55 Tru-Vu. Bows front and back made from 1/4" acrylic.

Thanks

At one point I was all about acrylic and swore I'd never go back to glass. Now just the opposite. All my future tanks will be glass.

Acrylic is cool because you can drill holes anywhere on setup and save some cash that way but then there is the scrathing issues and well besides the initial setup I see no benefit to acrylic then to a low iron glass.

In the future I will just pay someone to drill those holes where I want then and get a glass system.

I would go as big as possible,if you can afford & have space for a 90 go with the 90.I wish I could have gone bigger. I personally would never own an acrylic tank. I did once & no matter how careful I was it got scratched up super easy. It was super annoying.

I'm glad you guys are sharing your experince with acrylic tanks. This is very helpful. I am starting to plan a 54g to 240g upgrade. Honestly it is tempting to look at 300g; but I'm not sure when to stop...

I was considering acrylic because people rave about it so much; but glass is a lot less expensive. a 240g glass tank from glass cages was in the $600 range and the same exact tank in acrylic was in the $1,300 range!

Where do you guys go to get your tanks drilled? Do you have the manufacturer drill them?

I just swithed from a box 75G to a 92 corner bowfront from ALL_GLASS with an overflow & I LOVE the panoramic view &how neat it is to rock-scape!!!....In a typical rectangle you set up a few caves for fish to swim through but in a bowfront they can swim through tunnels from back to front AND side to side...I find with the water hitting the bow in the front the flow is much better for less dead spots...Still in the process of getting it going but I really like it....

Psss....I don't like acrylic tanks because while they are much lighter & come in any shape they are too hard to scrape algae without scratching....

check out glasscages.com.

You can have them use starfire glass on the front panel and if you're close enough to pick one up and one of their distribution centers, then IMO, it'd be worth it.
