does frogspawn like moderate lighting?

my frogspawn has been in the tank for about a month, and has been doing quite well, up until about a week ago. it's been retracting more and more daily. params are good, all other corals (except for a mushroom, which has been bleaching out a bit), both lps and sps (open brain, plate, candy cane and monti) are just fine and happy.

two things have changed, both, i think, light-related.

one - i've taken the glass lid off the tank, in an effort to let tank temps drop a bit through evap, as they had been a bit high lately.

two - i had switched my lights to run on the aquacontroller's seasonal cycle, and didn't realize that in doing so i had extended the amount of time the MHs were on (sunrise + 2 hours to turn on, sunset - 1 hour to turn off, so ~9 hours daily a/o to 6 before). i've dialed it back to +2 hours and -2 hours (ac3 is apparently 8-bit, and can only accept offset values of +/-127)

am i right? will it just take a bit to get used to the new schedule? should i put the lid back on? idears?

It may but frogspawn is not all that demanding in its light needs. They are aggressive and that aggression can lead to counter attacks by their neighbors. That can cause it to recede. They also close up at night and that can lead one to think something is wrong but that is normal.

the only thing that's close to it is a mushroom - can that counterattack? or is merely its presence enough to irritate the frogspawn?

i know it closes up at night, and it has done so before, this is more along the lines of not being as inflated during the day, getting progressively worse...

Probably not but all Corallimorphs can release a chemical defense that is known to cause SPS to retract. It is possible but I'm not so sure.
